Student Government’s Cultural Diversity Festival has become one of our most celebrated traditions in campus that gives the opportunity to all students to share their culture and discover the diversity that makes our campus so unique. The way we uplift and showcase these cultures is by providing entertainment from folkloric cultural groups or individuals, this year we will be using a combination of outside and CU Denver student performers who will represent Mexican, Hawaiian, African-American and East Asian cultures. We also share our students’ culture by sharing food from around the world, which this year will be catered by all local business like Tocabe and Los Molinos. We will also provide activities from around the world to teach traditions while building community by making the Colombian tradition of Silletas, the East Asian tradition of Origami Stars, Henna Tattoo artists and providing students with table games from around the world. Finally, we will involve the student body by engaging with student organizations. This year we have worked with the Finance & Funding Committee to teach these orgs how to fill out a funding request form, but to also provide them with help so they can share their culture with their peers during our event.
